European and national agricultural policies provide the framework for supporting agriculture with public funds. The financial support of nature conservation and landcare is also part of agricultural policy. 

Landcare Germany introduces expert knowledge within the field of landcare into all sectors of agricultural and regional policy. Thereby, it focuses on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) with the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) – first pillar – and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) – second pillar. Biological diversity, climate protection, water protection and soil protection constitute central contents of Landcare Germany´s work.

Thereby, Landcare Germany moves agricultural farms and Landcare Associations in the center. Thinking economically, creating added value, but above all providing services for the public goods! The DVL advocates better support for land-based animal husbandry and extensive grassland, as well as a simplification of testing and inspection requirements. Direct payments and support programs must be adapted for this purpose. The DVL also advocates the further expansion of biodiversity consulting for agricultural farms.
