Biodiversity conservation and landscape preservation depend to a large extent on the way land is managed and thus on the cooperation with farmers. Over 40,000 farms are already voluntarily implementing contractual nature conservation measures. The farms are supported in the implementation of these voluntary services through advisory services. In this way, jointly developed nature conservation measures can be implemented that fit the farm and its operations.

Within the framework of support programs of the 2nd pillar, but also with regard to the new "green architecture" of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) consisting of conditionalities and eco-schemes, public funds can be directed more effectively towards public welfare goals, especially regarding biodiversity.

The goal must be to offer competent, voluntary and free-of-charge advice to farms throughout the country.
